Series Vs. Drop Ins

Series Vs. Drop Ins

Are you curious if series are right for you?  In general, if you want a taste of training we recommend drop ins.  If you want to be all in and really learn the art of dance we recommend series.  Check out our list of pros & cons below.

Drop-In Classes

Pros:

  • Flexible Schedule:
    • You can attend classes on your own terms, fitting them into your busy life without needing to commit to a set schedule.
    • Ideal for those with unpredictable schedules or those who travel frequently.
  • Slow Pace (Potentially):
    • Depending on the class, drop-ins can sometimes be less intense, allowing for a more relaxed and casual experience.
    • Easier to try a new activity without pressure.
  • Low Commitment:
    • No long-term obligation, allowing you to try different classes and instructors without feeling tied down.
    • No financial penalty for missing a class.
  • One-Off Experience:
    • Perfect for those who want a casual experience, or just to try something new without a big investment.

Cons:

  • Inconsistent Progress:
    • Lack of a structured curriculum can hinder consistent progress and skill development.
    • You might repeat basic concepts without advancing.
  • Lack of Community:
    • It can be harder to build relationships with instructors and fellow participants due to the transient nature of drop-in classes.
  • Varied Quality:
    • The quality of instruction and the overall class experience can vary widely depending on the instructor and the specific class.
  • Potential for less in depth learning:
    • because it is a one off experience, there is less time to dive deeply into a subject.

Series Classes

Pros:

  • Consistent Schedule:
    • Provides structure and helps establish a routine, making it easier to prioritize your learning.
    • Creates a reliable time for your activity.
  • Practice Hours:
    • Offers dedicated time for focused practice, leading to faster skill development and improvement.
    • The structure allows for the time to build upon skills.
  • Virtual Support:
    • Provides access to additional resources, guidance, and community outside of scheduled class times.
    • Extends the learning experience.
  • Option to Level Up or Repeat Level at Discounted Rate:
    • Allows for continued progression and mastery of skills.
    • Provides flexibility to either advance or reinforce learning as needed.
    • Makes continued learning more affordable.
  • Structured Curriculum:
    • Allows for a more in depth learning experience.
  • Builds Community:
    • Consistent attendance allows for the building of relationships with other students, and the teacher.

Cons:

  • Less Flexible Schedule:
    • Requires commitment to a set schedule, which can be challenging for those with unpredictable schedules.
    • Missing classes may result in wasted money.
  • Higher Initial Commitment:
    • Requires a larger upfront investment of time and money.
    • If you don't enjoy the class, you are still obligated to the series.
  • Potential for Burnout:
    • The consistent schedule and structured curriculum can sometimes lead to burnout if not balanced with other activities.
